Australia Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins recently revealed the only thing he hasn’t ticked off in his cricket career.

Pat Cummins said that he has not yet managed to secure a Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series victory against the Indian team, despite some of his teammates having done so.

Australia last won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy during the 2014-15 series. India has won the trophy in four consecutive series, including two in Australia.

However, they managed to defeat India in the World Test Championship 2023 final. They also beat India in the ODI World Cup 2023 final clash.

A Few Of The Guys Have, But I Haven't - Pat Cummins

Speaking during an event, Pat Cummins said that winning a Test series against India is one of the few achievements he has yet to accomplish. He added that he has not managed to secure a series victory against India so far.

"I was thinking about it the other day. It’s close to the only thing I haven’t really ticked off. I’ve not beaten India in a Test series yet. A few of the guys have, but I haven’t," Cummins said during an event, as quoted by The Sydney Morning Herald.

Pat Cummins Has Taken 50 Wickets Against India In Tests

Cummins will lead Australia in a five-match Test series against India starting on November 22. He has captained Australia in three Test matches against India.

The 31-year-old pacer has guided the team to victory in only one match, which was the crucial ICC World Test Championship final at The Oval in 2023.

Pat played his first Test match against India in 2017, where Australia suffered a defeat in a hard-fought rubber.

He has been impressive in the last two home series against India, especially taking 21 wickets across four Tests in the 2020-21 series. Overall, he has taken 50 wickets in 13 Tests against India.

Do I Want To Try And Replicate Other - Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins opened up about his experience stepping into the captaincy role after being appointed in late 2021. Cummins highlighted that he has looked up to past Australian captains, but he realized the need to be himself.

"My whole life, you look up to the Australian captain and you know who it is, and you’re like ‘Oh wow, they’re so accomplished, and they must have all their shit together. And then suddenly when you are captain, you’re like ‘Oh, I’m going to be that type of person. In the initial phases, it was awesome that I had loads of support, and those who had to make the decision chose me and thought I was up for it before I even knew I was myself, I suppose."

"So it was like ‘OK, do I want to try and replicate other people, or do I just want to be myself?’ And I always thought I should be myself because it’s all I really know," he added.
