Young Indian opener Shubman Gill expressed his excitement about representing the national team in his World Cup debut in the upcoming tournament. Shubman Gill said that he had a childhood dream of playing for the Indian Cricket Team on the world stage.
Shubman Gill has been in sensational form across all formats of white-ball cricket this year. The right-handed batter has amassed 1230 runs in 20 innings at an impressive average of 72.35. He has smashed five centuries and five half-centuries in the 50-over format in 2023.
Feelings Can’t Describe In Words – Shubman Gill
In a video shared by the Indian Cricket Team on their Instagram handle, Shubman Gill spoke about making his World Cup debut, describing the achievement as still feeling like a dream.
“My first World Cup playing for the country. There are some feelings that you can’t describe in words, but it was a childhood dream for me to represent my country at the world-level stage. To be able to accomplish that, it still feels like a dream,” Gill said.

Shubman Gill is expected to open the innings alongside skipper Rohit Sharma in the marquee tournament at home. The 24-year-old has showcased brilliant form during the Asia Cup 2023 and the ODI series against Australia leading up to the World Cup.
