Mohammed Siraj’s Rhythm Was So Good From Ball One- Sunil Gavaskar

While speaking to India Today, cricket-turned-commentator Sunil Gavaskar hailed Mohammed Siraj for his outstanding performance in the IND vs SL match. Gavaskar also noted that Siraj was in rhythm from his first ball in the match.

“First and foremost, his rhythm was so good from ball one. Fast bowlers take a bit of time in the first over to get confidence. Once you get the confidence, your pace starts to increase from the second over onwards. From ball one, Siraj seemed to be very confident,” the former right-handed batsman said.

Jasprit Bumrah Kept Pressure From The Other End: Mohammed Siraj

Gavaskar, who was the first cricketer to hit 10K international runs, also said that Jaspirt Bumrah kept the pressure on Sri Lanka batters from the other end. Bumrah picked the 1st wicket for India to provide a breakthrough in the 1st over itself.

“The bowling was absolutely top-class. Siraj got six wickets, but Bumrah kept the pressure from the other end as well. Siraj was absolutely outstanding, getting the ball to move both ways, angling the ball across the left-handers, quite smartly, and getting the ball to curve away from the right-hander as well”, Sunil Gavaskar further said.

Mohammed Siraj dismissed Pathum Nissanka, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Kusal Mendis, and Dasun Shanaka in the match. He picked 4 wickets in the 4th over to set the field on fire. Later, he dismissed two more batsmen.
