IND vs AUS: ‘We Are Hoping…’- Ajit Agarkar Provides Update On Axar Patel's Injury

India head coach Ajit Agarkar has provided an update on Axar Patel’s injury. Ajit Agarkar said that the Indian team hopes that he will be fit for the IND vs AUS 3rd ODI.
Axar Patel is part of India’s squad for the upcoming IND vs AUS ODI series and the forthcoming ICC World Cup 2023. The all-rounder faced an injury in the encounter against Bangladesh in Asia Cup 2023.
The left-handed batsman slammed 42 runs off 34 balls in the match and added crucial runs on the board. However, Axar Patel injured his left quadriceps while batting. Later, he was dropped from the Asia Cup 2023 final against Sri Lanka which India won.
In the upcoming India vs Australia ODI series, Axar Patel is part of the squad in the 3rd ODI. Ravichandran Ashwin and Washington Sundar have been picked in the squad and will be part of the squad throughout the series. All these three players are spin all-rounders.
We Are Hoping Axar Patel Is Fit For The Third Encounter- Ajit Agarkar
While speaking to the press ahead of the IND vs AUS ODI series, India head coach Ajit Agarkar said that they hope Axar Patel will be fit for the 3rd encounter.
“We are hoping Axar Patel is fit for the third encounter. R Ashwin and Washington Sundar are also included for the third ODI,” said Agarkar.
Notably, KL Rahul will lead the team in the first two ODIs against Australia. Skipper Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Hardik Pandya are not part of the squad for the first two games. Virat Kohli is another player who will miss the opening two games of the IND vs AUS series.

India vs Australia ODI series begins on September 22 with the first match at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. The 2nd and 3rd ODI will take place on September 24 and 27 respectively. The venue of the 2nd ODI is Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore while the venue of the 3rd ODI is Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.
