Former Australia captain Aaron Finch expressed his admiration for India’s Rohit Sharma following the India-Pakistan match in the ICC World Cup 2023. Aaron Finch fondly recalled being on the opposing team when Rohit Sharma scored his ODI double hundred.
Rohit played a vital role in India’s victory over Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 14. The right-handed batter smashed a blistering half-century, scoring 83 runs off 63 deliveries with the help of six boundaries and as many sixes.
I Love Watching Rohit Sharma – Aaron Finch
In a conversation with ESPNCricinfo, Aaron Finch admitted that he loves to watch Rohit Sharma‘s performances endlessly. Finsh expressed that he could watch Rohit’s double hundred daily if the outcome of the match could be altered.
“It’s just brilliant. I love watching Rohit Sharma. I could watch him bat all day. I’ve been on the receiving end of a double hundred. It’s almost one of these things where you go. Hey, that was amazing. Can I watch that again? If we could change the result, I would watch that every day,” Finch told ESPNCricinfo.
Rohit Sharma scored his maiden double-hundred against Australia in Bengaluru in 2013. He became the third Indian batter to do so after Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. He scored 209 runs off 158 balls to help the team register a victory against Australia by 26 runs.
Team India Clinch Seven-Wicket Victory Over Pakistan
Earlier, the Indian skipper won the toss and chose to field in a high-pressure match at the world’s largest stadium. The home team bowled out the opposition team for 191 runs in 42.5 overs, with all Indian bowlers picking up two wickets each, except for Shardul Thakur.
In response, Shubman Gill, who made a comeback in the match, seemed to be in good shape but got out for a low score in Shaheen Afridi’s bowling. Rohit dominated the Pakistan bowling attack and added a 56-run partnership with Virat Kohli (16) for the second wicket.
The 36-year-old reached his half century off just 36 balls, despite the two early dismissals. He put up a 77-run partnership for the third wicket with Shreyas Iyer (53*) before being dismissed by Afridi. Shreyas scored the winning runs to help the team clinch a 7-wicket victory.
