IND vs BAN: Bangladesh to give India tough time? Dinesh Karthik makes colossal remark

Former India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik has revealed whether the Bangladesh National Cricket Team will give the Rohit Sharma-led side a tough time in the upcoming Test series.

India National Cricket Team are set to lock horns with the Bangladesh National Cricket Team in the two-match Test series at home. The first Test will be played from September 19 in Chennai, and the second Test will be played from September 27 in Kanpur.

Over the years, the two teams have faced off each other numerous times in Test cricket since Bangladesh became a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2000.

Overall, India have been dominant in Test cricket against Bangladesh, winning the majority of the games. In 13 matches between the two sides, India have won 11 and Bangladesh are winless.

The Men In Blue have registered convincing victories, consistently outperforming Bangladesh with just a couple of drawn matches, notably due to weather interruptions.

The last time, India and Bangladesh played against each other in Test cricket was in 2022. The Indian team traveled to Bangladesh for a two-match Test series in December. They won the first match in Chittagong by 188 runs and the second game in Mirpur by 3 wickets to complete a whitewash and extend their dominance.

However, the Bangladesh National Cricket Team will be heading into the Test series against India on the back of a historic Test series win against Pakistan in Pakistan.

The Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side completely stunned Shan Masood & Co. in the two-match Test series, winning by a margin of 10 wickets and 6 wickets to complete a clean sweep. It was the first time that Bangladesh had defeated Pakistan in a Test match and a Test series.

Looking at Bangladesh's recent dominance, Dinesh Karthik was asked a question about the Tigers giving India a tough time. Dinesh Karthik responded to it by saying that Bangladesh won't be able to dominate India as beating the hosts is a humongous task.

"I personally don't think that Bangladesh will give India a tough time," Dinesh Karthik remarked in a video on Cricbuzz.

"Beating India in India is a humongous task, and although Bangladesh has played well in Pakistan, I don't believe they'll trouble India much," Dinesh Karthik added.

Notably, the upcoming Tests will be the first time that India will be hosting Bangladesh in a Test series since the historic pink-ball Test in November 2019. Both the teams have already announced the strong squads for the first game and the contest is expected to be a thrilling one.

India have named a full-strength squad with all the first-choice players available and the series will also see a return of Rishabh Pant to red-ball cricket.

While Bangladesh suffered a major blow ahead of the series as the premier pacer Shoriful Islam has been ruled out of the Test matches due to the groin injury he picked up on the Pakistan tour.
