The second Test match of the two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh will be played in Kanpur's Green Park as scheduled. The news was confirmed by an unknown source of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The match was under serious threat due to the possible protests by the Hindu Mahasabha against the visiting Bangladesh team due to the worsening condition of minorities in Bangladesh at the moment.
After Bangladesh's former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was forced to leave the country, an interim government was formed in the country. However, the political turmoil ensured that the condition of minorities kept on deteriorating, leading to several human rights violations in Bangladesh.

BCCI would not move the second Test out of Kanpur
According to Sports Tak, the BCCI has cleared that there will be no change of plans for the second Test in Kanpur. It is believed that the BCCI is also monitoring the situation and is in constant connection with the security officials regarding the matter.
”Yes, we are monitoring and with the concerned authorities as far as those threats are concerned but we have done everything to hold that match and stadium is ready to welcome our and visitors and said it’s not going anywhere. It will be in Kanpur but we will keep monitoring the situation not only in Kanpur but also at the other venues,” a BCCI source was quoted as saying by Sports Tak.
While the second Test of the series will be held in Kanpur, the first Test will be played at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The series will begin from September 19 in Chennai while the Kanpur Test will be played from September 27.
Key players return for India
Meanwhile, India have already announced their squad for the series and it is almost a full-strength team. The likes of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant are returning to the Test fold after missing a few Tests. The team for the first Test was selected by the BCCI after the first round of Duleep Trophy came to an end.
Kohli did not make an appearance in the Test series against England earlier this year as he opted out due to personal reasons. KL Rahul did not play the last four Tests of the five-match series due to injury.
But all the eyes will be on Rishabh Pant, who is marking his return to Test cricket for the first time since his life-threatening accident. Pant has been picked as the first-choice wicketkeeper in the team and is likely to feature in the first Test ahead of Dhruv Jurel.
Bangladesh will be high on confidence
On the other hand, Bangladesh will be high on confidence after their scintillating 2-0 series win over Pakistan recently. They have plenty of positives coming out of that series as they blanked Pakistan in all the departments.
But India is likely to pose a lot tougher challenge to Bangladesh. The Men in Blue are currently at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) rankings. India have the most bases covered and have a formidable record at home.
