Team India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambrey has confirmed that they are unlikely to alter their winning combination for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 match. Paras Mhambrey mentioned that player selection is based on pitch conditions in the marquee tournament.
The Rohit Sharma-led team fielded three spinners against Australia in their first match in Chennai. However, they included three specialist pacers in the playing XI for the next two matches. Shubman Gill returned to the lineup against Pakistan after missing two games.
Important To Carry Momentum – Paras Mhambrey
Speaking ahead of the India-Bangladesh match in the World Cup 2023, Paras Mhambrey opened up about the strategy of rotation in the team. He emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum in long tournaments.
“No discussion on that. Important to carry momentum… It’s not an easy decision but we’ve had a clear chat with Shami. We pick as best suited according to pitch. Sometimes he will miss out, Sometimes Ashwin will miss. Difficult call, but has to be taken,” Mhambrey said.
The Men in Blue will be hoping to register their first consecutive win of the tournament when they face Shakib Al Hasan-led Bangladesh at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Thursday, October 19.
Kuldeep Yadav Worked On Certain Things – Paras Mhambrey
When asked about working with a fully fit bowling lineup, Paras Mhambrey expressed his satisfaction with Jasprit Bumrah’s successful return from injury. He credited the physios at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and on-site for their contributions.
“Ah, ask me about that, man. It was tough last couple of years. Glad Bumrah has come back so well. Physios in NCA and here, credit goes to them. Kuldeep has worked on certain things: his bowling, his action. His speeds. His accuracy,” Mhambrey further stated.
Jasprit Bumrah made his ODI comeback during the Asia Cup 2023 after a prolonged injury layoff. The right-arm pacer tops the bowling charts of the World Cup, having picked up 8 wickets in three matches with an impressive average of 11.62 and an economy rate of just 3.44.
