India fast bowler Akash Deep has spoken about the team's bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. Akash claimed that he tries to follow many bowlers but following the footsteps of Jasprit Bumrah is not an easy thing.

Akash Deep has played just one Test in his career so far, which he played against England earlier this year in Ranchi.

He was impressive in that series and picked up the top 3 wickets with the new ball in the first innings.

However, with Jasprit Bumrah's return for the final Test, he was dropped despite a decent performance in his debut Test.

Akash Deep has been named in India's squad for the first Test match against Bangladesh. Although Bumrah and Siraj are the frontline pacers, Akash might get a chance to feature in the series.

Akash Deep reveals why it is tough to follow Jasprit Bumrah

Akash Deep recently had a chat regarding his favorite bowlers. When asked about the bowlers he follows the most, he replied that he doesn't follow a single bowler but likes to take different things from different bowlers.

"I don't follow just one bowler too much. Every bowler in the world has their own unique action and technique, and each one is great in their own way," Akash Deep said.

The 27-year-old quick then lauded Jasprit Bumrah for his talent and claimed that he is unique which makes him so difficult to follow. The right-arm fast bowler also revealed that he follows Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj.

"I follow (Kagiso) Rabada a bit, and (Jasprit) Bumrah is a legend. It's hard to follow him. 'Bumrah bhai ko bhagwan ne alag hi bana k bheja hai (He has been uniquely crafted by God), and I can't learn everything from him. I also observe Siraj and learn from him. I pick up small things from various bowlers, but I don't follow just one bowler too much," Akash Deep said according to IANS.

Akash Deep in Mohammed Shami's absence

The youngster also spoke about the responsibility in the absence of Mohammed Shami. Shami has been out of the Indian team since he underwent ankle surgery earlier this year.

"This is a huge responsibility that I have been given, allowing me to serve my team. Shami bhai is currently injured... I see this as a responsibility and am trying my best to live up to the faith that the selectors and BCCI management have placed in me," he added.

Akash Deep thanks Rohit Sharma

Akash Deep also thanked India's captain Rohit Sharma for making things easier for him in his debut Test match. He added that Rohit managed things so well that it seemed like a normal match and he could bowl without any pressure.

"I played my first match under Rohit bhaiya in Ranchi. I was thinking about how difficult it would be to play my debut match for the country. There's something special about him—when I played that first game, it didn't even feel like I was playing for India," Akash Deep said.

"He manages things so well, talks in a way that puts you at ease and gives simple plans that make cricket easier. Playing under him is a matter of luck for any cricketer," he added.

Akash Deep recently played the opening round of Duleep Trophy 2024 where he recorded figures of 4-60 and 5-56 across both the innings.

He has shown good form ahead of the series against Bangladesh and could get a game in one out of two Tests against Bangladesh.

Akash is an experienced bowler in the domestic circuit and has the experience of bowling long spells. In first-class cricket, he has picked up 116 wickets in 32 matches so far at an average of 22.86.
