Indian wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance against Australia and Pakistan in the ICC World Cup 2023. KL Rahul emphasized their aim to avoid putting too much pressure on themselves in the match against Bangladesh.
The Rohit Sharma-led team registered victories against Australia, Afghanistan, and Pakistan in their first three matches of the tournament. The Men in Blue will take on the Shakib Al Hasan-led team in their next match at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Thursday, October 19.
It Was Good That We Handled Ourselves Really Well – KL Rahul
In a video shared on the ICC’s Instagram handle, KL Rahul emphasized that the team views the India-Bangladesh match as just another game. Rahul said that they are focused on working as a cohesive group to strive for victory.
“For us as a team, we didn’t want to make India-Australia or India-Pakistan as these big high-pressure games in our heads. It’s just another game that we need to go play as a group, focusing on what we’re discussing, trying to execute our skills, and win the game. That’s the mindset we all want to get into. It was good that we handled ourselves really well in both those games and got the win that we were looking for,” KL Rahul said.
The Indian team is currently in second place on the 10-team points table in the marquee tournament with 6 points. In contrast, the team led by Shakib Al Hasan occupies sixth place with 2 points.
They’re A Good Team – KL Rahul
KL Rahul acknowledged that Bangladesh is a strong team, particularly in subcontinental conditions. He praised their crafty and skilled spinners, highlighting their past success against India in series like the Asia Cup.
“They’re a good team, especially when you’re playing in subcontinental conditions. Their spinners are very crafty and skilled. They have performed well against us, even during the Asia Cup and our tour of Bangladesh when they won the series. So, they’ve done really well against us, and they have a quality bowling attack as well,” Rahul said.
The Bangladesh team has secured three victories in their last four 50-over format matches, including a recent win at the Asia Cup. It’s worth noting that in all of these games, India did not field a full-strength side.
