Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh was asked to name a batter whom he would want to bat for his life. The 2011 World Cup winner didn't pick Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, who are the two best batters of the game and have been picked by some of the other ex-players of the team to bat for life.
In an interaction with Sportskeeda, Yuvraj Singh was asked to name a batter he would choose to 'bat for his life' in a rapid-fire round. The former all-rounder of the team went on to pick the current Test and ODI skipper of India National Cricket Team Rohit Sharma.
Yuvraj Singh and Rohit Sharma share a great camaraderie between them. The duo often have been seen teasing each other and also have a lot of fun with each other. They have played a lot of cricket together as well and have done some incredible things for the team.
Yuvraj Singh has often been there for Rohit Sharma in his lows. The all-rounder was there for the current India skipper when he was left out of India's 2011 World Cup squad. Singh had taken him out for dinner, which had helped him get over the setback. He recently also named Rohit his 'closest friend' in an interaction earlier this year.
Yuvraj Singh is notably touted as one of the best all-rounders to have played for the India National Cricket Team. He has been the biggest match-winner for the team, and the kind of impact he made has been sensational. He was equally on top with both bat and ball.
Yuvraj Singh was one of the main reasons behind India winning the T20 World Cup 2007 and the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, where he was Man of the Tournament for his stupendous effort with the bat and ball. He played the tournament with chest cancer and gave his best for the team, helping the team win the World Cup after 28 years.
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma has been nothing short of exceptional as well as the opener for the team. The right-hander has developed himself into one of the best openers in the game of cricket, irrespective of the format, and is the backbone of the team.
Even at the age of 37, Rohit Sharma has been giving his best for the team and is making sure that he takes his team to the flying starts at the top. He recently guided the team to the T20 World Cup 2024 win and was also the leading run-getter for his team, leading from the front and showing them the way.
Rohit Sharma to captain India in Test series against Bangladesh
Rohit Sharma will now be joining the India National Cricket Team for the Test series against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. He will be leading the team in the two-match series. It will be the first time India will be playing Tests since March of this year.
The Test series, which will also be part of the ICC World Test Championship, will begin on 19th September. The first match of the series between the teams will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and after that second game will be played from 27th September in Kanpur.
Rohit Sharma, who is the No.5 ranked Test batter, will be extremely important for his team's chances in the Test series. He has been India's best player across the formats. The right-hander would be hoping to carry his form and help his team win the series.
