India D captain Shreyas Iyer stunned one and all with his appearance and performance against India A in the ongoing third game of the Duleep Trophy 2024 at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur on Friday, September 13.

The right-handed batter is far from his true colors in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024, resulting in his being ignored for the opening game of the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, starting on September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Well, the India D captain had the chance to prove his worth with his performance in the second game of his team in the ongoing red-ball tournament to return in contention for Test selection ahead of the second Test against Bangladesh in Lucknow, beginning on September 27.

However, Shreyas Iyer lost yet another opportunity, as he was dismissed for a seven-ball duck against India A on Day 2 of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 game in Anantapur on Friday.

Notably, the Indian batter scored 9 and 54 during India D’s four-wicket defeat against India C in the first game.

Well, it was Khaleel Ahmed who made the mockery of Iyer with his stunning bowling after the India D skipper made fun of himself for his quirky appearance in the match. He came to bat wearing sunglasses over the helmet, and fans couldn’t keep calm, trolling him for the show-off.

Meanwhile, India A pacer got an early strike, dismissing Atharva Taide in the very first over, and then gave another crucial breakthrough to his team by stunning India D captain in the third over. Khaleel has struck again, dismissing Iyer for a duck, thanks to a brilliant catch by Aaqib Khan.

The Indian pacer delivered a full pitcher, and Iyer failed to keep the ball down while attempting a drive on a full delivery and ended up handing a sharp catch to Aaqib at mid-on.

The young Aaqib's quick reflexes were on display as he joyfully celebrated the crucial catch. Khaleel put India D in serious trouble by taking two wickets in two overs in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 match.

After Iyer’s cheap wicket, Yash Dubey (14) and Devdutt Padikkal (40*) managed to stabilize the innings briefly, but the India D opener was eventually caught behind after a successful review off.

Sanju Samson and Yash Dubey depart early

Aaqib Khan claimed his first wicket as Dubey was caught behind by Kumar Kushagra. Aaqib’s back-of-length delivery with some away movement caused Dubey trouble, as he attempted a backfoot punch, only to edge it faintly to the keeper.

Initially, he was given not out, but India A went for a review and got the decision overturned. Sanju Samson followed soon after, misjudging a pull shot that ended up in Prasidh Krishna's hands at mid-on.

For India A, Khaleel Ahmed and Aaqib Khan have been impressive with the ball, while the spinners have yet to make an impact. As the game progressed after lunch, batting became smoother, with Ricky Bhui and Padikkal settling in for a long partnership for India D after early setbacks.
