All eyes will be on star batter Virat Kohli as the India national cricket team prepares for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh.

Virat Kohli is on the verge of breaking Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the fastest player to reach 27,000 runs in international cricket.

Virat Kohli retired from T20Is following the T20 World Cup 2024 victory in June. He will now play for Team India in Test and ODI formats.

The former Indian captain is set to return to Test cricket after a nine-month absence. He missed the five-match series against England due to personal reasons.

Team India will begin the two-match Test series against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, starting on September 19.

The second Test will be played at Green Park in Kanpur from September 27. Following the Test series, the two teams will play a three-match T20I series.

Virat Kohli On The Brink Of Breaking Sachin Tendulkar's Record

Virat Kohli is on the brink of breaking Sachin Tendulkar's record for the fastest cricketer to reach 27,000 runs in international cricket.

Kohli needs 58 more runs to surpass Tendulkar's milestone. Tendulkar achieved this milestone in 623 innings (226 Test innings, 396 ODI innings, and 1 T20I innings).

Kohli has scored 26,942 runs in 591 innings across the three formats in international cricket. He has scored 8,848 runs in Tests, 13,906 in ODIs, and 4,188 in T20Is.

He is likely to break Sachin Tendulkar's record in fewer than 600 innings and become the quickest cricketer to achieve this milestone.

Virat will become the fourth player in history to reach 27,000 international runs. He will join the list of Sachin Tendulkar, Kumar Sangakkara, and Ricky Ponting.

The batter already holds the record for being the fastest to reach several milestones, including 16,000 to 26,000 runs in international cricket.
