Amid this, India’s entire schedule of the Sri Lanka tour has been leaked hours after they suffered a 27-run defeat in the third and final ODI against England at Lord’s. It is being said that the Indian cricket team will arrive in Colombo on August 4 before starting preparations for the two-match Test series.
The upcoming two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka is part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle, so it carries massive significance for both teams.
Before the two WTC Test matches, India will play a four-day warm-up match to help the players get used to the Sri Lankan conditions. The practice game will be played at the Nondescripts Cricket Club (NCC) Ground in Colombo from August 7.
After the warm-up fixture, the Indian squad will travel to Galle for the opening Test, starting August 15 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium in Galle. The second and final Test will be played at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in Colombo from August 23.

India returns to Sri Lanka for Tests in nine years
The upcoming test series is expected to play a big role in the ICC World Test Championship final race. The Shubman Gill-led Indian team is currently placed fifth in the WTC standings, while Sri Lanka is just behind them in sixth place. With valuable WTC points at stake, both teams will be desperate to start the upcoming Test series on a winning note.
The tour is special for India, as it will be their first Test series in Sri Lanka in nine years. The last time India played a red-ball series on Sri Lankan soil was back in 2017. Well, even though the Sinhalese Sports Club now has floodlights, both matches will be played from 10:00 AM.
Yuvraj Singh's honest verdict on India's poor performance
Meanwhile, legendary Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh feels the team’s poor performance on the recent UK tour should be seen as part of their rebuilding phase and urged for patience.
The former World Cup winner admitted that India cannot ignore the disappointing results, but do not forget this is a transition phase and they have already won three back-to-back ICC trophies within a couple of years.
Yuvraj was quoted as saying by JioStar: “People shouldn’t forget what this Indian team has achieved over the last couple of years, winning three major titles. The team is in transition, new players are coming in, and phases like these are bound to happen. Now it’s time to rethink and bounce back.”
