Virat Kohli, on Tuesday (September 12), failed to get going with the bat against Sri Lanka in the crucial Super 4 clash of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023.
Just 24 hours ago at the same venue, Virat Kohli had smashed a sublime century against arch-rivals Pakistan. The former India skipper played a stunning unbeaten knock of 122 runs from just 94 balls to help India post a mammoth total of 356 for 2 in 50 overs. In reply, Pakistan were all out for just 128 as India registered a record win of 228 runs.
The right-handed batsman walked out to bat after Rohit Sharma and Shuman Gill gave the team another good start. The duo shared a quickfire 80-run stand before Gill departed for 19. All eyes were on Virat Kohli as another big knock from him was expected. However, the batting superstar failed to get going against Sri Lanka and departed after scoring only 3 runs off 12 balls.

Virat Kohli did fail to score big with the bat but it did not affect him much as the ever-energetic cricket superstar looked in a playful mood when he walked out to bat. Throughout the Sri Lankan innings, he was at his animated best and the crowd at the R. Premadasa Stadium loved it.
And an incident from the match is going viral on social media. The clip shows Virat Kohli shaking his legs on the famous Bollywood track ‘Lungi dance’ during a break. As soon as the India star started dancing, the crowd made sure to cheer him.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli’s failure with the bat did not cost India the match as they registered a hard-fought 41-run win over the home side. The win has also sealed India’s spot in the final of the Asia Cup 2023. India were bowled out for a modest total of 213 runs.
Left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage starred with the ball for Sri Lanka, taking 5 for 40. In reply, Sri Lanka were all out for 172 with Kuldeep Yadav picking up 4 wickets. India will now take on Bangladesh in their last Super 4 game before fighting it out in the final. The Men in Blue will play against either Sri Lanka or Pakistan in the final on Sunday (September 17).
