When nothing happens, Shardul Thakur happens. The right-arm pacer yet again proved this as he stepped up once again for his team and picked up a wicket at a crucial juncture of the game. The Indian team are currently asserting their authority over Bangladesh in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 encounter at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

After India took early four wickets, Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan along with Towhid Hridoy stitched a valuable partnership and brought their team back in the game. The left-hander in particular looked threatening and was all set for a big knock. But his stay at the crease was cut short by Shardul Thakur.

Shardul Thakur bowled a back-of-the-length delivery from around the wicket. The ball angled in from outside off. Shakib Al Hasan tried to push it away from the body and got an inside edge that clattered onto the leg stump. Here’s the video of his dismissal:

Shakib Al Hasan played a vital for his team as he played a staggering knock. The Bangladesh skipper scored 80 runs off 85 balls. He also smashed 6 boundaries and 3 sixes in his innings. With his wicket, Bangladesh lost half of their side for 160 runs.

This wasn’t, however, the first wicket Shardul Thakur took. The pacer gave India a rollicking start with the new ball as well. He removed Tanzid Hasan and Anamul Haque inside the powerplay to give his team a dream start.

IND vs BAN: Ravindra Jadeja supports Shardul Thakur well as he removes Shamin Hossain in the next over

Right after Shardul Thakur removed Shakib Al Hasan, Ravindra Jadeja removed Shamin Hossain in the very next over. The all-rounder bowled a staggering delivery that turned in from a length around off and wrapped the batter on the pads.

With this Ravindra Jadeja completed his 200 wickets in ODI. He became only the 7th bowler from India to achieve the feat. India took 6 wickets for just 161 runs and it remains to be seen at what score they will restrict Bangladesh.
