India and England will be up against each other in a five-match Test series. This article provides detailed information on Five Player Battles To Watch Out For in the IND vs ENG Test series 2025.
IND vs ENG- 5 Player Battles To Watch Out For
KL Rahul vs Brydon Carse
KL Rahul's form will be crucial for India's chances of winning their first series in England after more than a decade. The right-hander who is expected to open the innings for India, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, will have to negotiate the new ball.
If Rahul can play out the first couple of spells from the English bowlers, especially the pacers, then it would give India an upper hand, and the Shubman Gill-led side can entertain their chances of winning.
Rahul will be up against Brydon Carse, who was in good form in the recently concluded ODI and T20I series against West Indies.
Carse has grabbed the eyeball of many experts in England, along with the media, with his aggressive bowling, and his battle with Rahul in the IND vs ENG series promises to be a mouth-watering one.
Shubman Gill vs Jamie Overton
Shubman Gill, the newly appointed Indian Test captain, will hope to lead from the front and control an inexperienced middle order while batting at number four in the IND vs ENG Test series.
Gill will face the challenge of Jamie Overton, who is making a comeback into England's Test team after a gap of nearly three years. Overton will provide the much-needed experience in the absence of Mark Wood and Jofra Archer.
Overton was in decent form in the ODI series against West Indies before getting injured and will look to replicate the same performance in the longest format of the game.
Rishabh Pant vs Shoaib Bashir
The face-off between Rishabh Pant and Shoaib Bashir will be full of entertainment in the IND vs ENG Tests, that's for sure, as both players are known for their aggressive nature on the field.
Rishabh has a fantastic record in England and would want to add to that. Bashir, on the other hand, has had a fine start to the home season and would like to put on a strong performance against India.
Joe Root vs Jasprit Bumrah
The battle between Root and Bumrah will be a keenly contested one and will decide the fate of the series, as both players are in magnificent form coming into the first Test.
Root has been in sensational form in Test cricket since June 2020 and has scored runs in every country. The story is no different in England, and Root has adapted to England's aggressive style of play as well.
Bumrah, on the other hand, bowled relentlessly against Australia, which took a toll on his body, as a result of which he might feature in only three games in the IND vs ENG five-match series.
Harry Brook vs Mohammed Siraj
Harry Brook has had a rollicking start to his career and has carried it in limited-overs cricket as well. Having said that, he is yet to prove his credentials against India, which has Mohammed Siraj at its disposal.
Brook will have to tackle the pace of Mohammed Siraj, who is making a comeback into the team after missing the 2025 Champions Trophy. Siraj played an integral part last time India toured England for a Test series.
The pacer will look to get things going from the IND vs ENG first Test itself and get the better of Brook early in his innings.
