Young wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel expressed excitement about sharing the dressing room with stalwarts like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Dhruv Jurel also mentioned his eagerness to learn from the experiences of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and KL Rahul.

Dhruv Jurel has been included in India’s squad for the first two Tests of the highly anticipated five-match series against England at home. The 22-year-old was named as one of the three wicketkeeper batters in the national team, alongside KL Rahul and KS Bharat.

The Uttar Pradesh cricketer received his maiden call-up to the senior Indian team following impressive performances in red-ball cricket. The right-handed batter was part of the India A team during two unofficial Test series against South Africa in December last year.

Jurel contributed 69 in the second Test against South Africa A at Benoni. He continued his fine form with 63 runs in the Ranji Trophy clash against Kerala. He has played 15 first-class matches, amassing 790 runs at an average of 46.47, featuring one century and five fifties.

Everyone Asks About The Game – Dhruv Jurel

In a conversation with Times of India, Dhruv Jurel expressed his eagerness to discuss matters beyond cricket with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Jurel stated that he would inquire about their attitudes, handling pressure, and acquiring skills for the team’s benefit.

“Yes. A lot of questions. Everyone asks about the game. These are the basic questions. But I also want to ask about the attitude they carry, how to remain consistent, how to remain positive, how to handle pressure, and how to add more skills to my game so that it can benefit my team. These are the things I would like to ask from veterans like Virat, Rohit, and KL,” Jurel said.

Dhruv Jurel Likely To Compete With KS Bharat For Wicketkeeper Role

Dhruv Jurel is expected to compete with KS Bharat for the wicketkeeper position in the playing XI against England. Bharat has represented India in five red-ball matches, scoring 129 runs at a disappointing average of 18.42 and involving 13 dismissals behind the stumps.

KL Rahul is expected to play a specialist batter in the upcoming series due to the challenges posed by quality spinners on turning pitches. Rahul kept wickets in the recent away Test series against South Africa, where the Rohit Sharma-led team drew the series 1-1.

India To Begin Their Preparation For England Series On January 20
