India’s Test specialist Cheheshwar Pujara has hit the news once again after his charismatic show in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 season. Cheteshwar Pujara shattered a double ton for Saurashtra in the opening clash against Jharkhand.

Post his double ton, former Indian player Mohammad Kaif took to Twitter to praise Cheteshwar Pujara. Mohammad Kaif said that Pujara’s commitment to the game is a lesson for all youngsters.

Playing his opening match of the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 season, Cheteshwar Pujara stormed a double ton in the clash against Jharkhand. Post his magnificent knock, cricketer-turned-commentator Mohammad Kaif heaped praises on him. Taking to X, Kaif said that Cheteshwar Pujara’s commitment should be a lesson for all youngsters.

Taking about Jharkhand vs Saurashtra match, Jharkhand was bowled out for 142 in 1st innings. Later, Cheteshwar Pujara stormed an unbeaten double ton of 243 runs off 356 balls with 30 boundaries.

With his knock, Saurashtra reached a powerful total of 578-4 in 1st innings. In the ongoing game, Jharkhand trails by 183 runs after reaching 253-3 in 2nd session of 2nd innings.

Cheteshwar Pujara Vanished After WTC Final 2023

Meanwhile, Cheteshwar Pujara has vanished from India’s Test team for quite a long time. He last played in the ICC World Test Championship 2023 final. However, post India’s defeat in the match, the Gujarat player was dropped from the Test side.

He was absent from the West Indies and South Africa Test series as well. He was a regular one-down batter for India in Tests post his ouster. However, it is to be noted that Pujara has made a comeback into the Test side in the past too.

India To Face England In 5 Tests

Notably, India will face England in a five-match Test series at home starting January 25. The IND vs ENG Test series will continue till the 2nd week of March 2024. Hence, Pujara can make a comeback in the series after his consistent show in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 season.

India tied the Test series against South Africa 1-1 recently. India lost the opening game against South Africa by a big margin of an innings for 32 runs. However, Rohit Sharma & Co. made a comeback by winning the 2nd clash by 7 wickets.
