The ongoing ODI series between India and England will conclude this week. The third and final match of the series is scheduled to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday (February 12).
India have clinched the series by winning the first two games. The Rohit Sharma-led side won the second game by four wickets to go 2-0 up in the series. Riding on their captain Rohit Sharma's brilliant century, India chased down 305 runs inside 45 overs to register a thumping win.
Even though the series has already been decided, the game will be important for both teams as it will give them an opportunity to finetune their preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy. So as both the teams gear up for the game, here is the match preview for the third IND vs ENG ODI.

IND vs ENG key battles:
Rohit Sharma vs Jofra Archer:
Rohit Sharma starred with the bat for Team India in the second ODI. The India captain roared back to form and scored a scintillating hundred to lay the foundation for the series-clinching win. He scored 119 runs from just 90 balls with the help of 12 fours and 7 sixes. He also shared a 136-run stand with his opening partner Shubman Gill.
England will be hoping that the India captain does not get a good start in the third game and will be relying on Jofra Archer for the same. Archer was rested for the second game and is likely to return to the playing eleven for the third game. He will be keen to take the prized scalp of Rohit.
Ben Duckett vs Mohammed Shami:
Ben Duckett has looked in good form on this tour. In the second game, the England opener scored 65 runs off just 56 balls. He also shared an 81-run stand with Phil Salt for the opening wicket. Even in the first game, Duckett had shared a fifty-plus stand with Salt.
While Duckett will be eyeing a big score in the third game and end the tour on a good note, India will be hoping that Mohammed Shami makes an impact with the new ball and gets rid of the England star as early as possible.
Virat Kohli vs Adil Rashid:
After missing the first ODI due to a swollen knee, Virat Kohli returned to the playing eleven for the second game and did not last long at the crease. The former India skipper was out for just 5 runs with Adil Rashid dismissing him. With Kohli struggling at the moment, Rashid will be fancying his chances against the India star once again.
IND vs ENG Key Players
IND - Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, Axar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja will be the key players for India.
ENG - Joe Root, Ben Duckett, Jos Buttler, Phil Salt, Adil Rashid, and Jofra Archer will be the key players for England.
IND vs ENG Weather And Pitch Report:
The pitch is not going to be a very easy surface to bat on. Fast bowlers could make a big impact in the game just like they did in the 2023 World Cup final which was the last ODI match played at the venue.
Talking about the weather, there is no prediction for rain. As far as the temperature is concerned, it will be hovering around 30 degrees Celsius during the first half of the game and will drop to 20s in the second half.
Conclusion:
Even though India have already won the ongoing series, they will not treat the upcoming third IND vs ENG ODI lightly. The game will be India's last ODI before the ICC Champions Trophy and they will be looking to use the match to finetune their preparations for the competition.
England will also use the game for the same purpose and will also be desperate to win the game in order to avoid a whitewash.
