India and England will be taking on each other in the fifth and final T20I of the ongoing series on Sunday (February 2, 2025). The game is scheduled to be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The fate of the series has already been decided in India's favor. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side beat England by 15 runs in the fourth T20I to go 3-1 up in the series. Batting first, India scored 181/9 before bowling out England for 166 runs to take an unassailable lead.

With the series already in the bag, India will be eyeing another win over England. And as both the teams gear up for the fifth and final T20I, here is the preview for the game.

IND vs ENG Match Preview- 5th T20I, England tour of India 2025:

IND vs ENG 5th T20I Date and Venue:

The upcoming IND vs ENG 5th T20I will be played on Sunday (February 2) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The match will be played from 7:00 PM (IST).

Squads:

India:

Suryakumar Yadav (C), Axar Patel (VC), Sanju Samson (WK), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammad Shami, Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Shivam Dube, Ramandeep Singh

England:

Jos Buttler (c), Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Ben Duckett, Jamie Overton, Jamie Smith, Liam Livingstone, Adil Rashid, Saqib Mahmood, Phil Salt, Mark Wood

IND vs ENG key battles:

Jos Buttler vs Varun Chakravarthy:

Jos Buttler did fail to score big in the do-or-die fourth T20I but has looked in good touch in the series. He is England's leading run-scorer in the series and will be looking to end the series on a good note. In 4 games so far, Buttler has scored 139 runs and will be keen to lead his team from the front in the fifth T20I as well.

However, he will have his task cut out against India's in-form spin spearhead Varun Chakravarthy. In a series where no other bowler has managed to take more than 6 wickets, Chakravarthy has claimed 12 wickets including a five-wicket haul. He has already dismissed Buttler twice in the series and will be eyeing more success against the England captain.

Jofra Archer vs Sanju Samson:

The battle between Jofra Archer and Sanju Samson has been pretty much one-sided so far. The England pacer dismissed the India opener in the first three games before he was sent back by Saqib Mahmood in the fourth T20I.

On all three occasions, Archer got the better of Samson by bowling short deliveries. Archer can trouble any batsman in the world with his pace and will be looking to dismiss Samson once again in the fifth T20I.

Hardik Pandya vs Jamie Overton:

Hardik Pandya made the difference with the bat for India in the fourth T20I. India were reeling at 79/5 when he walked out to bat and went on to score a brilliant fifty to rescue India. Pandya scored 53 runs off just 30 balls. He was also India's top-scorer in the third T20I, scoring 40 runs.

An in-form Pandya can blow any team away with his batting and England will be hoping that they manage to dismiss the allrounder early in Mumbai, a venue where he has played ample cricket in IPL.

And England will be relying on their allrounder Jamie Overton to get rid of Pandya. Overton has dismissed Pandya in the last three games and will be eyeing more success against him.

IND vs ENG Key Players

IND - Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, Tilak Varma, Arshdeep Singha, and Varun Chakravarthy will be the key players for India.

ENG - Phil Salt, Ben Duckett, Jos Buttler, Harry Brook, Jamie Overton, and Jofra Archer will be the key players for England.

IND vs ENG Weather And Pitch Report:

The weather report is very promising for the fifth T20I. There is no prediction for rain in Mumbai on the match day. The temperature will be hovering around 26-27 degrees Celsius throughout the game.

Talking about the pitch, the Wankhede Stadium is known for producing high-scoring games. The average first innings total in T20Is at the venue is 191 runs and the upcoming game could also be a high-scoring one.

Conclusion:

While the series has already been decided, there is still a lot to play for in the fifth IND vs ENG T20I.

With both the teams also set to play a three-match IND vs ENG ODI series, they will be looking to win the fifth T20I to have the winning momentum on their side.
