Mohammad Amir forgets Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami while lauding Indian pacers, rates these fast bowlers instead
Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has lauded Indian pacers Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj while on the sidelines of the ongoing ILT20 2024.
He reckons Mohammed Siraj has been the most improved white-ball bowler in recent times and has said that Arshdeep Singh has the potential to become a left-arm pace maestro for India after Zaheer Khan.
Talking about Arshdeep Singh, Mohammad Amir said that the 24-year-old can achieve huge success as a left-arm pacer for India. He said India needs a left-arm pacer who can consistently clock around 140 km/h and Arshdeep is very dependable in terms of his pace.
Arshdeep Singh has played both the white-ball formats for India and was one of the main bowlers for India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. He is yet to make his debut for India in the red-ball circuit.
Mohammad Amir lauds Indian pacers
“Arshdeep Singh can be India’s dependable left-arm pacer. Arshdeep can be a very good left-arm pacer. India needs one who can consistently bowl at 135-140,” Mohammad Amir said during a virtual media interaction on the sidelines of a recent ILT20 match.
“From the last two or three years, the most impressive has been Mohammad Siraj. The way he has improved in white-ball cricket, it’s a good sign for Indian cricket,” Mohammad Amir said about Mohammed Siraj. Mohammed Siraj finished the 2023 season with 44 wickets and got himself a place in the ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year on Tuesday, January 23. The Hyderbad-born pacer registered his career-best figures of 6/21 in the Asia Cup 2023 final against Sri Lanka.
Mohammed Siraj Will Feature In The Test Series Against England And Arshdeep Singh Has Been Added To India’s A
Arshdeep Singh is being touted as one of the key bowlers for India going into the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. He picked up a fifer in the first ODI against South Africa in December and four wickets in the final ODI of the series.
In his last T20I match against Afghanistan on January 14, the left-arm pacer registered figures of 3/32. Arshdeep Singh has also been added to the India A squad for their ongoing red-ball series against the England Lions. Mohammed Siraj is all set to feature in the first Test against England in Hyderabad on January 25.
Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj are the most likely to be the two pacers to feature for India in the first Test against England. Mohammed Siraj will be the local boy in Hyderabad and will hope to deliver with the ball in his home ground where his career started to flourish.
The conditions are likely to be spin-friendly in Hyderabad which means the Indian spinners will look to dominate. India will likely play three to four spinners in the first Test because of the spin-friendly conditions.
India has not lost a Test series at home since the defeat against England in 2012. They have won 16 consecutive home Test series since 2012 and will hope to increase the count to 17 in the upcoming five-match Test series against England. The first Test will be played in Hyderabad, followed by Vishakhapatnam, Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamsala.
