Team India faced pressure against England, losing two early wickets in the ongoing match of the ICC World Cup 2023. Ace Indian batter Virat Kohli failed to make an impression with the bat as he was dismissed for a duck in India’s sixth match of the marquee tournament.

The Men in Blue lost two early wickets, including Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli, after being asked to bat first at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday, October 29. England’s new ball bowlers Chris Woakes and David Willey picked up each wicket of Indian top-order batters.

Virat Kohli Fails To Continue His Batting Form

The England bowlers applied pressure to the Indian batters with tight lines and lengths. Chris Woakes produced a brilliant in-swinging delivery to disturb Shubman Gill, who scored nine runs off 13 deliveries, by hitting the stumps through a big gap between bat and pad.

Virat Kohli came to the crease at No. 3 when the team’s score was 26/1 after four overs. The right-handed batter faced difficulties against the English fast bowlers and produced an outside edge that fell just short of Joe Root, positioned at first slip, off Woakes’ bowling.

Kohli attempted an expansive shot after playing four consecutive dot balls, but it went into the hands of Ben Stokes. The 34-year-old batter tried to go for a big shot down the ground but misjudged the length, and the ball hit the top of his bat, lobbing to mid-off.

Fans On X React As Virat Kohli Gets Out For Duck

The Delhi-born cricketer faced criticism from fans on social media following his dismissal for a duck. This marked his first duck in the 50-over format for India this year. The disappointing performance drew attention and disappointment from cricket enthusiasts.
