IND vs ENG scorecard, 2nd Test, day 2 highlights: Jasprit Bumrah and Yashasvi Jaiswal put India on top against England

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jasprit Bumrah became the major reason behind India’s dominance on Day 2 of the second Test match. At one end, Jaiswal smashed a brilliant double hundred, and Bumrah picked up a six-fer and helped India gain a strong hold on the match.
After finishing at 336/6 on Day 1, India began Day 2 with the same batting intention. The overnight duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Yashasvi Jaiswal came out to bat for India. The duo added 34 runs from 57 balls for the seventh wicket. Ashwin played an innings of 20 runs from 37 balls and smashed 4 fours during his stay at the crease. However, Ashwin was removed by English pacer James Anderson.
Soon after the fall of Ravichandran Ashwin, Yashasvi Jaiswal completed his double hundred and played an innings of 209 runs from 290 balls. Jaiswal smashed 19 fours and 7 sixes during his stay at the crease, which was the highlight of the Indian innings. Jaiswal showed immense temperament and brilliant attitude against the England bowlers and played the best innings of his life. Jaiswal was the eighth Indian wicket to fall and was removed by James Anderson. The Indian tail was wrapped up soon by the England bowlers and India ended their first innings at 396 runs.

James Anderson, Shoaib Bashir, and Rehan Ahmed picked up 3 wickets each for the English team whereas Tom Hartley picked one wicket.
The English team was off to a decent start while batting against India’s first innings score. The duo of Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley added 59 runs for the first wicket and gave their team a positive start. Kuldeep Yadav drew the first blood for England when he removed Duckett for 21 runs off 17 balls.

After the departure of Ben Duckett, Zak Crawley began to counter-attack against the Indian bowlers and added 55 runs for the 2nd wicket along with Ollie Pope. This was a quick partnership that came in just 73 balls. Crawley brought up a brilliant half-century in just 52 balls.
While the Indian team was in desperate need of a wicket, Axar Patel struck in his first over and removed Crawley for 76 runs from 78 balls. One brought two for India, as Joe Root was set up brilliantly by Jasprit Bumrah and he got rid of the famous English batsman for 1. Pope followed Root’s steps as he was removed by Bumrah with a toe-crushing yorker for 21 runs.
Jonny Bairstow tried to attack from the other end and played some attacking strokes. However, he fell against Jasprit Bumrah for 25 runs off 39 balls. Ben Foakes was cleaned up by a beauty from Kuldeep Yadav for 6 runs. Another wicket fell in the form of Rehan Ahmed for 6 runs.
While the wickets were falling from one end, England skipper Ben Stokes was standing alone at one end and attacking the Indian bowlers. Ben Stokes missed out on a half-century and played a much-needed innings for his team. Stokes was cleaned up by the brilliance of Jasprit Bumrah for 47 runs from 54 balls. He also put up a stand of 47 runs with Tom Hartley 42 for the eighth wicket.
Jasprit Bumrah also became the fastest Indian pacer to pick up 150 wickets in Test cricket and achieved the feat in 64 Tests. At last, England were wrapped up for 253 runs and Bumrah picked up a six-wicket haul whereas, Kuldeep Yadav ended up with 3 wickets. One wicket went to Axar Patel.
At last, India ended Day 2 at 28/0 in five overs in their second innings. Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal are unbeaten at the crease.
