IND vs IRE: Aakash Chopra Upset After Arshdeep Singh's Spell In 1st T20I, Says "I Felt He Would Wreak Havoc On This Pitch"

Former India opener Aakash Chopra was disappointed after seeing Arshdeep Singh’s four-over spell in the first T20I match against Ireland on Friday (August 18) at Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin.
In the first innings, Arshdeep Singh scalped just one wicket in his four-over spell and gave away 35 runs. Arshdeep dismissed Curtis Campher in the 17.5th over.
Jasprit Bumrah-led the Indian bowling attack after he took two wickets in his four-over spell and gave away 24 runs. Ireland gave a target of 140 runs.
However, due to rain India’s target got reduced by the DLS method and Men in Blue won the match by two runs.
While speaking on his official YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said that he expected a much better performance from Arshdeep Singh and thought the Indian pacer would run havoc in the Dublin pitch.
“Arshdeep got only one wicket. Personally, Arshdeep disappointed me a little. I felt he would wreak havoc on this pitch but that did not happen and he got hit in the end as well. I am talking in the context. Arshdeep conceded 35 runs in four overs, so you shouldn’t say he got hit too much,” the 45-year-old said.
Aakash Chopra said that if one has to get the best out of Washington Sundar, then he should be provided with the new ball.
“Washington Sundar bowled three overs and went wicketless. There was a partnership developed when he was bowling. If you have to get the best from Washi, you have to give him the new ball because he does not have that much craft to pick up wickets in the middle overs,” he added.

Aakash Chopra praised Ravi Bishnoi and said that the bowler delivers within the three stumps and creates chances to get wickets.
“Ravi Bishnoi – I like this bowler a lot. He bowls within the three stumps. He is playing in Ireland, the Irish won’t play spin that well, and as soon as you play him across the line, he hits the ball on the pads or the stumps,” Aakash Chopra further added.
Jasprit Bumrah’s India will take on Ireland in the second T20I match on Sunday (August 20) at Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin. The game will kick off at 7:30 PM IST.
