IND vs IRE: Can Jasprit Bumrah Play All 3 Formats Post His Injury Comeback? Glenn McGrath Responds

Jasprit Bumrah is all set to make his international comeback after almost a year since he last played in September 2022. He is all set to lead Team India in the three-match series against Ireland. He was out with a lower back injury and has now recovered fully to make his comeback.
The Indian pacer has been out of the Indian side since September 2022 and missed the T20 World Cup, the Border-Gavaskar series, and the WTC final for India. He was named in the Ireland T20I side for the Ireland series with the NCA giving him a clearance regarding his fitness.
Former Australian legendary pacer Glenn McGrath has reacted to Bumrah’s comeback saying that the pacer needs to understand whether he will be fit enough to play all the formats post his injury. Bumrah’s comeback boosts the Indian bowling lineup ahead of the ODI World Cup at home.
“With the current international schedule and the IPL, there is no off-season anymore for a fast bowler, especially for someone like Jasprit, who needs an off-season to pull his strength back in. So that’s a decision he needs to make himself (on whether to give up on one of the formats). It’s getting harder to play all three formats. That is something Jasprit will have to think about moving forward because what he does is unique and is quite tough on his body too. I think he has a lot more to offer for the rest of his career” said McGrath in an interaction with Times Of India.
He further spoke about India being one of the hardest places for a fast bowler to succeed and that he is incredibly impressed by Jasprit Bumrah’s hard work.
“India is probably the toughest place to be a fast bowler. Pitches are not that juicy here. But now young (seam) bowlers are coming from India, whom probably we haven’t seen before. It’s because fast bowling here wasn’t as focused as it is now. If you succeed here, you can succeed anywhere in the world as a fast bowler,” added McGrath.
Jasprit Bumrah Has Been An Incredible Bowler For India: Glenn McGrath
McGrath concluded by saying that Bumrah needs to stay fit to extend his international career and that he is a big fan of the Indian pacer.
“He (Bumrah) has been incredible for India. His bowling stats, the wickets he has taken, and the way he bowls, I’m a big fan. His bowling action puts a lot of stress on his body. So he needs to stay strong and fit. If he does that he could play for a few more years,” the 53-year-old said on the sidelines of the MRF Pace Foundation.
