IND vs IRE: "He Told Me To..." - Shivam Dube Reveals Valuable Words From MS Dhoni

Indian batter Shivam Dube revealed the valuable advice he got from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni during the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL). He said that his words helped him to upgrade his game and understand the situation.

Shivam Dube was one of the exciting players in the IPL 2023 as he played some blistering cameos and played a key part in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) winning the 5th Trophy in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The lanky all-rounder showed a different type of spark this time around and won the matches for his team.

Shivam Dube was used as a floater by MS Dhoni and he repaid the faith of his skipper by producing magnificent performances as he took the league by storm with his brutal power-hitting ability. His knocks many times change the course of the game including the IPL Final.

Shivam Dube mustered 418 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 158.33 and an average of 38. His impressive performances in the league saw him getting the India call-up for the Asian Games as well as the three-match T20I Ireland series.

Shivam Dube revealed how MS Dhoni told him to play the game till the end and try to finish the game. He said that although he cannot reveal everything but his advice surely helped him to upgrade his game. Speaking in a video posted on BCCI’s social media account, he explained:

“I cannot express all the things… I have upgraded my game. I got to know how to finish the game, how to be in the situation, how to tackle the bowlers, that all things are more important and many things are there but cannot express all the things. But, I definitely got some big tips. He told me to play till the end and try to finish the game. You can win many matches from your batting, so keep believing in yourself.”

Shivam Dube further went on to say that his goal is to finish the game with bat and ball, so it’s important for him to work both physically and mentally in that way. He added:

“For me, the goal is to finish the game with bat and ball. What kind of job I get for my team, what situation I get. I probably plan in that way. So that is more important and working physically and mentally both in that way.”

Apart from his batting heroics, Shivam Dube has been handy with the ball as well and has taken 41 wickets in 106 T20 matches but this year he didn’t bowl a single over in the IPL.
