The IND vs IRE ICC T20 World Cup match will be played in New York on May 5. The match starts at 8 pm IST which is 10.30 am local time. This is the first match of both the teams in the World Cup.

Rohit Sharma is the captain of the Indian team. There were reports about Hardik Pandya being the likely captain but his fitness issues along with his poor form in the IPL prompted the BCCI to name ROhit as the skipper. The announcement on Rohit was made by BCCI secretary Jay Shah just after the ODI World Cup.

All of India's group games start at 8 pm IST. India are placed alongside, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and the USA. The men in Blue are searching for their second T20 World Cup title. They won the inaugural World Cup. In 2022, they lost the semi-final against England. In 2014, they lost the final to Sri Lanka.

Ireland, on the other hand, is led by Paul Stirling. They recently; ly lost a T20I series to Pakistan 2-1. The Irish have an experienced squad with several players from their squad having played the last two T20 World Cups in 2021 and 2022.

While India looks firm favorite to go through to the next round from this group, Ireland can be the second if they play well against the other three teams. India have played seven T20I matches against Ireland and won all seven. The two teams last played a bilateral T20I series in 2022.
