IND vs IRE: Not Mohammed Siraj Or Mohammed Shami!! KKR Coach Names The Pacer Who Can Be An All-Format Bowler For Team India

Former batsman and current Kolkata Knight Riders assistant coach Abhishek Nayar believes Team India does not have a fast bowler who can play all three formats.
At present, India have a good arsenal of fast bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Shardul Thakur. The likes of Deepak Chahar, Prasidh Krishna, Umran Malik, Navdeep Saini, and Mukesh Kumar further make the bowling arsenal look really strong. Abhishek Nayar, however, believes India still does not have a bowler they can rely on to do the task for them in all three formats.
And he believes Prasidh Krishna could be that bowler. The former Mumbai batsman has said that Prasidh could become an asset for Team India if he is managed properly. His comments came after Prasidh returned to international cricket on Friday (August 18) after a gap of almost a year as he was sidelined with a back injury.
In his comeback match which was the first T20I against Ireland in Dublin, the right-arm pacer picked up 2 wickets for 32 runs. During a discussion on JioCinema, Nayar was asked about Prasidh. The former cricketer-turned-coach was asked whether the pacer could use the T20I series to impress the selectors for the Asia Cup and the World Cup. In reply, he said:
“If you see Prasidh Krishna’s graph, you don’t have bowlers like him. You don’t have bowlers who can play all three formats. I feel the selectors and management have always identified him as someone who can do that.”
“He likes to play Ranji Trophy. He enjoys bowling with the red ball. We have already seen how he has bowled in ODIs. We know how he does in T20s based on the IPL. He is a bowler who wants to play all three formats, it’s not that he wants to play only ODIs or T20Is,” he added.
Abhishek Nayar on workload management for India pacers:
One of the reasons why India do not have bowlers who can consistently play for the team in all the formats is the immense workload. Players nowadays hardly get the time to recover from the fatigue and the pacers have no option but to skip a series every now and then to recover. Speaking about workload management, Nayar said:
“Can that workload be managed? I always have just one question for an Indian fast bowler – whether the workload management can happen because our fast bowlers play the IPL. When you play the IPL and you are playing 14 games and could be plus two or three, it means you are not getting an off-season.”
“So I feel that Prasidh Krishna or Jasprit Bumrah, your three-format players, have to be looked after to a level where he can play all formats but when are you going to use him and in which tournaments are you going to use him and how smartly are you going to use him, and that for me is the key,” he added.
Talking about the first T20I, India beat Ireland by 2 runs (DLS method) after rain brought a premature end to the match. India were on 46/2 in the seventh over when rain spoiled the party.
