Left-handed batsman, Rinku Singh showcased a stellar performance in the second T20I match against Ireland on Sunday (August 20th) following which former India player, Abhishek Nayar heaped praise on the 25-year-old batsman and said that there is very few international batsman like him.

Rinku Singh came at number 5th place on the batting order and played a 38-run knock from 21 balls with a strike rate of 180.95. Rinku smashed two fours and three sixes during his time on the crease and helped the Men in Blues set a target of 186 runs.

In the second inning, the Indian bowling attack was led by the skipper, Jasprit Bumrah who took two wickets and gave only 15 runs in his four-over spell. Ravi Bishnoi and Prasidh Krishna also picked two wickets each, which helped the visitors to clinch a 33-run victory over the Irish side.

The 25-year-old made his debut in the first T20I match but he failed to bat on Friday (August 18) since the match was abrupted due to rain and India won the game by two runs (DLS method).

While speaking on Jio Cinema, Abhishek Nayar explained Rinku SIngh’s inning and how the player accelerated at one point when he was at 15 off 15. Nayar praised Rinku and said the player has great potential and caliber.

“I’m very happy. When he (Rinku) started his innings and you he was 15 off 15, if I remember. And then from there on to go and get 30 it just tells you the caliber and I’ve said this before,” Abhishek Nayar said.

The former Indian all-rounder said that there are very few batters like Rinku Singh in international cricket. Nayar also added that from the very first ball, Rinku Singh did not make others feel that it was an international game.

“There are very few players in international cricket who can take on bowlers the way he does. Once he gets going, I felt he showed a lot. From ball one, it didn’t feel like it was international cricket for him. He’s never felt like he was stuck in his batting, and those are things I often look at. I look at a batter when they walk into international cricket. How comfortable they were,” Nayar added.

I was trying to do what I have done in the IPL: Rinku Singh

“I am feeling very good. I was trying to do what I have done in the IPL. I was very confident and tried to stay calm. I listen to the captain. I am feeling very nice. I have been playing for 10 years. All my efforts have born fruition. I am happy to get the Man of the Match award in my first game,” the 25-year-old said.
