Fans on X (formerly Twitter) expressed their disappointment after the 20-year-old star batter Tilak Varma registered back-to-back failures against Ireland National Cricket Team in the three-match T20I series.

Tilak Varma has become one of the most talked about names in Indian cricket following his impressive showing in the debut T20I series against West Indies National Cricket Team.

Tilak Varma performed consistently in all five matches of the T20I series against West Indies and finished as the leading run-getter for India with 173 runs at an average of 57.66 and a strike rate of 140.65.

The 20-year-old, who plays for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has received backing from the likes of Ravi Shastri to be a part of India’s World Cup squad.

Many fans also backed the batter to be India’s No.4 in the World Cup, but he might have diminished his chances after his poor performance in the ongoing three-match T20I series against Ireland National Cricket Team.

In the first T20I match of the series, Tilak Varma got out for a golden duck at the Malahide, Dublin. Also, in the second T20I, Tilak got out for a 2-ball 1 after he tried to go for a pull shot but failed to get a good distance and was caught by Dockrell. He has become the second Indian after Virat Kohli to register back-to-back single-digit scores against the Irish team in T20I.
