Jasprit Bumrah has started his campaign in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on a solid note as he impressed with the bat during the game between India and Ireland a the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

The right-arm pacer picked up two wickets for just six runs in his three overs as India bowled out Ireland for a paltry total of 96. He started the proceedings in the game by bowling a maiden over. What makes his first over even more impressive is that it was the final over of the powerplay where the bowlers usually struggle as the batters try to score as many runs as possible during the fielding restrictions.

However, the India pace spearhead once again showed why he is regarded as the best pacer in the world. In his second over, he picked up his first wicket by dismissing Harry Tector. Jasprit Bumrah was then reintroduced into the attack for the 15th over and he picked up his second wicket with his trademark yorker.

The right-arm pacer bowled one right in the blockhole and Joshua Little had no answer for it. The Ireland pacer made room for himself but could not stop the ball from crashing into the stumps.

Hardik Pandya led the charge with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 27 runs while Arshdeep Singh and Bumrah picked up two wickets apiece to put India in the driver's seat.

"Always special to play for the country, always good to play for pride. I have been able to contribute in the World Cups, god has been kind," said Hardik Pandya after the innings.
