India wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson opened up about getting selected for the T20 World Cup 2024. He talked about how being part of the dressing room which has Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli lifts the players and motivates them to win the games for India.

After struggling hard for the past few years, Sanju Samson for the first time will be playing World Cup for Team India. He was selected in the squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 as one of the two keepers in the side, having performed exceptionally well in the IPL 2024.

Sanju Samson had a sensational outing in the IPL for Rajasthan Royals. The keeper-batter batted with a great sense of maturity and showed what he was capable of. He led from the front and took his team to the playoffs with his great leadership and magnificent batting.

Sanju Samson, who scored 531 runs in 15 innings at a strike rate of 153.47, would be now keen to make an impact for Team India and help the team win the World Cup. Alongside the legends Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, he will be a vital cog for his team.

Sanju Samson said that joining Team India for the T20 World Cup 2024 has been a completely different feeling for him. He said that he was fortunate enough to be at this stage as many people dream about. He added that he is now focused on doing the sessions right. Speaking to BCCI, he stated:

“Right from the moment I landed here, IPL has been completely off and it's a completely different stage. I am telling myself Sanju you are somewhere I think lots and lots of people dream about.

“And then it's like okay boss what else do I need to do? I need to hit the gym session, I need to do my recovery, I need to do the practice sessions. And mentally it was like I didn't have to motivate myself.”

Sanju Samson while cherishing his selection in the team talked about the impact of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the dressing room. He said that after watching the two greats of Indian cricket, he thinks about what he can do to win games for the team. He explained:

“It was like automatically things were supposed to happen and it was happening. And then actually when you get into the atmosphere when you meet Mr. Rohit Sharma, Mr. Virat Kohli. You look at them and then you get inspired, then you get motivated.

“And then there is no looking back actually only looking front. How can Sanju Samson help the Indian team to win more games? I think it has always been to understand what it takes to be a World Cup cricketer for an Indian team. And I think how badly I want it. I am very very grateful for the support which I receive wherever we go. I am so very grateful,” he concluded.
