Former India opener, Aakash Chopra spoke on Yashasvi Jaiswal and said that he expects that the current India opener will score more runs in the third T20I match against Ireland.
In the second T20I match, Ireland won the toss and opted to bowl first. Following this Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad opened for the Men in Blues.
Jaiswal played an 18-run knock from 11 balls with a strike rate of 163.64 but Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 58 runs from 43 balls. India gave a target of 186 runs in the first inning.
In the second inning, Ireland started well but the Indian bowling attack made no mistake to defend the target. Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets along with Ravi Bishnoi and Prasidh Krishna which helped the Men in Blues to stop the Irish squad at 152 runs and won the match by 33 runs.
India have already won the series after defeating Ireland in the first two games, however, they will be looking to whitewash the host, which will help the young squad to gain confidence.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has shown that when he scores runs…: Aakash Chopra
While speaking on his official YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra mentioned that when Yashasvi Jaiswal starts to score runs, he becomes the Man of the Match at straight, but when he fails, Jaiswal gets out early.
The 45-year-old also advised Yashasvi Jaiswal to play the pull shot correctly since while playing the shot he is losing his wicket and the opponent’s bowling attack will always try to use that strategy.
“Yashasvi Jaiswal should score runs. Until now, Yashasvi Jaiswal has shown that when he scores runs, he scores so many that he straightaway becomes Player of the Match, or else he gets out early. He likes playing the pull shot but is getting out playing the pull as well. That is one trick that bowlers will regularly try against him,” Aakash Chopra said.
Aakash Chopra also asked Tilak Varma to score runs in the third T20I match against Ireland, since he has been failing to display an extraordinary performance in the three-match series.
“Tilak Varma’s name has come for the Asia Cup. He had zero in the first innings, one in the second innings, we don’t want two in this innings. We need runs in this innings. We should get to see the celebration of his selection for the Asia Cup from his bat,” the 45-year-old added.
The former India opener further added that Sanju Samson will be furious and score much more runs in the third T20I match to prove himself after he was included in the Asia Cup 2023 squad as a reserve player.
“Sanju Samson will come at No. 4 and he will be slightly angry now – ‘You have kept me in the traveling reserves. See my ODI numbers, I am actually doing very well but you haven’t picked me. If you don’t pick me, I will demolish the opposition team and a few records’,” Chopra further added.
Jasprit Bumrah-led India will take on Ireland in the third and final match of the three-game T20I series on Wednesday (August 23) at The Village in Dublin.
