India captain Jasprit Bumrah talked about the T20I series win against Ireland. He lauded young players in the team and touted them as confident guys, saying that everyone is eager to perform for the team.

Indian cricket team produced a staggering effort in the second game at The Village in Dublin to take an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the series. They batted and bowled magnificently well, with captain Jasprit Bumrah being the prime performer with the ball.

Asked to bat first, Ruturaj Gaikwad (58) and Sanju Samson (40) put the team in a comfortable position after they lost early wickets. Before Rinku Singh (38) and Shivam Dube (22*) smashed Ireland bowlers all over the park and finish the innings for the team. Based on their significant performances, India posted a total of 185 runs.

With the ball, India kept chipping in with wickets at regular intervals as they bagged four quick wickets with Prasidh Krishna and Ravi Bishnoi picking two wickets each. Andrew Balbirnie (72) bailed his side out of trouble and smashed a magnificent half-century. But that wasn’t enough as India continued putting pressure.

Jasprit Bumrah bagged two wickets and ended the innings on a magnificent note as he bowled a maiden wicket in the last over of the game. Based on his staggering bowling effort, India won the game by the margin of 33 runs and sealed the series with a match to go.

After the game, Jasprit Bumrah talked about his performance and said that the surface was drier and he racked up his pace. He also added that playing with a baggage of expectations puts the player under pressure. He explained:

“I am feeling good. Today was a little drier. We thought it would get slower and hence batted first. It is very pleasing. It is tiugh to pick an XI. Great headache to have. Everyone is eager. Everyone is confident. All of us wanted to play for India. Eventually, everyone has to work their way up. If you play with a baggage of expectation, you are under pressure. You have to keep those expectations aside.”

The dead rubber third T20I between India and Ireland will be played on Wednesday (23rd August).
