After winning his duel with Hardik Pandya on the field, West Indies star Nicholas Pooran also took aim at the India allrounder following the fifth and final T20I between the two teams.

Nicholas Pooran impressed with the bat again as West Indies thrashed India by eight wickets to clinch the five-match series 3-2. Batting first, India scored 165 for 9 in the allotted 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav top-scored for the visitors, scoring 61 while Romario Shepherd was the best bowler for West Indies. He picked up 4 wickets off 31 runs in four overs.

In reply, West Indies chased down the total in just 18 overs. Opener Brandon King and Nicholas Pooran led the charge with the bat for the hosts. While King scored an unbeaten 85, Nicholas Pooran scored 47 as the duo shared a decisive 109-run stand for the second wicket. King and Shai Hope then shared an unbeaten stand of 52 runs to take West Indies home.

As West Indies dominated the proceedings in the fifth T20I, the duel between Hardik Pandya and Nicholas Pooran caught everyone’s attention. The reason behind it was Pandya’s comments after the third T20I. Speaking after the game, the India captain had said:

“Nicky (Pooran) didn’t come out to bat and that allowed us to keep our pacers back, also allowed Axar to bowl his four overs. If Nicky wants to hit, let him hit me and that was the plan, I enjoy such competition. I know he is going to hear this and will come hard at me in the fourth T20I.”

Nicholas Pooran did not face Hardik Pandya in the 4th T20I as he was out for just 1 off 3 balls. However, the southpaw was up against the allrounder in the series decider and he made sure to make Pandya eat his words. In the third over of West Indies’ chase, the hard-hitting batsman hit Pandya for back-to-back sixes.

He was not done yet. After the game ended, he also made sure to add salt to Pandya’s wounds by sharing a post of his duel with the allrounder on his Instagram story.

Not only that, but one of his Instagram posts also made the fans say that he took a dig at Pandya. He took to the social media platform to post a reel along with his teammate Akeal Hosein, where both of them did the ‘zipping up the mouth’ gesture. He posted the video with the caption: “If you know you know.” Unsurprisingly, the post did not go down well with some Indian fans and they were quick to express their displeasure.
