Former Indian player, Harbhajan Singh made an unusual comment on India’s upcoming match in the Asia Cup 2023 against Nepal on Monday (September 4th) at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.

While speaking to India Today, Harbhajan Singh said that the Men in Blues should not panic before their second match in the tournament.

The former India cricketer also believed that Rohit Sharma’s side would not change the first eleven that played against Pakistan.

Bhajji asked the players with this opportunity the Men in Blues should focus on the middle order of the team as a batter or bowler.

“There is no need to panic. I don’t think India will change anyone from the XI they played against Pakistan. I think the same team will play against Nepal. Take this opportunity to spend time in the middle as a batter or bowler,” Harbhajan Singh said.

The former India spinner asked the team to correct the mistakes they wanted to make against big teams like Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Singh added that India should take the match against Nepal as practice.

Singh further added that the squad should spend more time in the groove to make things better in the forthcoming matches in the tournament.

“Try to rectify all the things you want to do against big teams like Pakistan and Sri Lanka. That’s what these games are for. There is nothing better than practicing in the middle. Take this game as practice. Play the way you want to play. Take a little bit more time to get into the groove and things will start getting better for you,” Harbhajan Singh added.

I think India need to just play like Team India: Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh added that the Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blues should play like Team India and praised the squad by saying that they have brilliant players.

“I think India need to just play like Team India. They have brilliant players, unbelievable talent. I think the more they stay on the wicket, the more runs they are going to score. Of course, they didn’t get to bowl. Even though we are talking 20-30 runs short, I believe 266 was quite a challenging total on this wicket,” Harbhajan Singh further added.

India are coming into this match after locking horns against Pakistan in their opening match of the tournament on Saturday (September 2nd) at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy. The match ended with no result after rain spoiled the game.
