The 29-year-old India National Cricket Team right-arm quick Jasprit Bumrah has returned to Mumbai in the middle of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, which is being co-hosted by Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
Asia Cup 2023 is being played in the One Day International (ODI) format as it will provide teams with good preparation for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, which will be hosted by India.
The continental tournament commenced on Wednesday, August 30, and the summit clash will be held on Sunday, September 17. A total of six teams are participating in the marquee tournament, which consists of 13 matches. India, Pakistan, and Nepal form Group A while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan are placed in Group B.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah recently made a triumphant return to international cricket in the three-match T20I series against Ireland following an 11-month hiatus. Notably, Bumrah was forced to undergo back surgery, which kept him out of action for an extended period.
Jasprit Bumrah Returns To Mumbai – Reports
Jasprit Bumrah participated in India’s first match of the Asia Cup 2023 against Pakistan on Saturday, September 2 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
However, he was only able to contribute with the bat and didn’t get an opportunity to bowl as the second innings was completely washed out due to rain. Jasprit Bumrah looked good with the bat as he scored 16 runs off 14 balls, with 3 fours, and was India’s third-highest run-getter on the day after Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan.
Meanwhile, India will miss the services of Jasprit Bumrah in the match against Nepal. The Men In Blue will take on the Nepal National Cricket Team on Monday, September 4, in the 5th match of the competition at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
According to reports in Dainik Jagran, Jasprit Bumrah has already left for Mumbai. Fortunately, the reports claim that he is fully fit, hasn’t suffered any injury, and has returned to Mumbai due to personal reasons. The pacer is expected to join the team for the Super 4 stage of the continental tournament. Also, in his absence, India are likely to include Mohammed Shami in the playing XI.
