Indian skipper Rohit Sharma led by example as he took a sharp catch to dismiss Nepal skipper Rohit Paudel (5) in the 20th over of their innings. The Indian skipper won the toss and asked their opponents to bat first.
India had a sloppy start to the game as they missed three catches inside the first five overs. The Nepal openers added 65 for the first wicket inside the first 10 overs after which Shardul Thakur provided the initial breakthrough for India.
The Indian skipper then decided to turn towards Ravindra Jadeja who provided three quick breakthroughs for his team. He first dismissed Bhim Sharki (7) as he castled his stumps. The left-arm spinner then came back to dismiss Nepal skipper Rohit Paudel (5) and Kushal Malla (2) in back-to-back overs.
Rohit placed himself in the slips and took a sharp catch to dismiss the opposition skipper for just five runs. The delivery was bowled faster by Jadeja and it was travelling quickly taking Paudel’s bat.

He further dismissed Malla to pick up the third wicket of his spell. The southpaw trying to loft Jadeja was caught inside the circle by Mohammed Siraj.
India’s campaign opener against Pakistan was washed out with both the teams sharing a point each. India must win the match against Nepal to qualify for the Super 4s. Like against Pakistan, rain is also expected to play spoilsport in the match against Nepal.
Mohammed Shami is back in the playing XI replacing Jasprit Bumrah who flew back home due to the birth of his first child. He will be back for India’s Super 4 campaign in Asia Cup 2023.
