IND vs NEP: Shreyas Iyer, Virat Kohli Drop Back To Back Catches In India's Must-Win Game Against Nepal
PC: X

India are playing Nepal at Pallekele in Kandy and this is a must-win game for the Men in Blue. Rohit Sharma won the toss and asked Nepal to bat first. India need to win this game to qualify for the Super 4s. Pakistan from Group A have already qualified for the Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2023.

India brought in Mohammed Shami who replaced Jasprit Bumrah in the XI who is back home due to the birth of his baby boy. Shami almost had a wicket off his very first over.

He knicked off Kushal Bhurtel off the fifth delivery of his first over. The catch came at a nice height to Shreyas Iyer who was standing at first slip but the ball went through his hands.

On the very next ball of the next over of the Nepal innings which was the first over for Mohammed Siraj, Virat Kohli dropped a dolly at covers as India missed two good opportunities to have Nepal two down.

A few overs later, wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan misjudged a catch down the leg side from the bowling of Mohammed Shami once again as India dropped three catches inside the first six overs.

India in their first game against Pakistan were bowled out for 266. Ishan Kishan (82) and Hardik Pandya (87) got the runs for the side. Heavy rain did not allow Pakistan to have their response as the match was called off with the two teams sharing a point each.

With rain around again in Pallekele on Monday, Rohit Sharma won the toss and asked Nepal to bat first. He expected his bowlers to get early wickets but they have not been backed up by their fielders so far in the match. India have to win the match to advance through to the next round.
