Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh picked a pivotal player for the Rohit Sharma-led team in the ICC World Cup 2023. Harbhajan Singh expressed his belief in the quality of players in India’s World Cup squad, emphasizing their strength in both batting and bowling.

The Men in Blue entered the marquee tournament as favorites for the title, considering their familiarity with the conditions. The hosts are one of only two undefeated teams in the tournament so far, having secured four victories and a crucial eight points in the tally.

There Are Some Quality Players In The Indian Squad – Harbhajan Singh

Responding to a fan’s question on the Star Sports show, Harbhajan Singh predicted that Virat Kohli could emulate the role of Yuvraj Singh, who was named Player of the Tournament in 2011, in the 2023 World Cup and lead India to victory.

“I feel in this World Cup there are some quality players in the Indian batting line-up or even in the bowling line-up. If we talk about Bumrah hai, Siraj hai, Kuldeep badi achi form mein hai. Ek pick karna bada mushkil hoga ki kaun vo Yuvraj Singh bann sakte hai (It will be quite difficult to pick who among them can become the next Yuvraj Singh). But if I have to give that responsibility to someone, then I will choose Virat Kohli to be the Yuvraj Singh of 2023 and win the cup for India,” Harbhajan told Star Sports.

Yuvraj Singh played a crucial role in helping the team win the ODI World Cup in 2011 at home. He scored 362 runs in 8 innings with an average of 90.50, including a hundred and four fifties. He also picked up 15 wickets at an average of 25.13 and an economy rate of 5.03.

India Set To Face New Zealand On October 22

Jasprit Bumrah stands as the third-highest wicket-taker with a tally of 10 wickets, while Mohammmed Siraj and Hardik Pandya have claimed five wickets each. Ravindra Jadeja has been instrumental, with seven wickets to his name, and Kuldeep has secured six wickets.

The Rohit Sharma-led team will lock horns with the Tom Latham-led team at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Sunday, October 22. The home team will be hoping to continue their winning streak to advance to the semi-final stage.
