Indian batter Shubman Gill broke the massive record of Hashim Amla in the ODI Cricket. The opening batter became the fastest batter to score 2000 runs in 50-over cricket as he achieved the feat in 38 innings, surpassing Proteas great’s tally of 40 innings.
Shubman Gill achieved the feat in the 21st match of the ICC World Cup 2023 against New Zealand. The batter looked in sublime touch as he played some breathtaking strokes and made sure that India were off a flying start in the match against New Zealand.
Shubman Gill smashed a staggering half-century in the last game and then followed it up with a 26-run knock against New Zealand. He added 71 runs partnership with captain Rohit Sharma (46) and gave his team another rollicking start, which set the platform for a win later on.
Shubman Gill has been in terrific touch in the ODIs this year. He is the leading run-getter in 50-over cricket in 2023 with 1325 runs to his name from 23 games at an average of over 66. He also has 5 tons and 6 half-centuries this year as well.
