Former India opener, Aakash Chopra has made a bold prediction about Virat Kohli’s future after the ODI World Cup 2023 squad of India was announced on Tuesday (September 5th), and the former India player said that no one should doubt Kohli’s fitness level.

Virat Kohli is considered the star batsman of Indian cricket and is currently in Sri Lanka with the Men in Blues squad to take part in the Asia Cup 2023.

In the third match of the Asia Cup 2023 against Pakistan, Virat Kohli was criticized by many cricket pundits for the way he got an inside edge and was dismissed by the Men in Green pacer, Shaheen Afridi after making only four runs from seven balls with a strike rate of 57.14.

In the upcoming days on Sunday (September 10th), India will again square off against Pakistan in the Super Four match of the Asia Cup 2023 which will be played at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

In the Super Four match, Virat Kohli need to perform well as most cricket fans will be hopelessly waiting for a big run from him which will benefit India to dominate the match against their arch-rivals, Pakistan.

While speaking on the official YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said that players like Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Mohammed Siraj and a few others can make it into the 2027 World Cup.

While talking about Virat Kohli, the 45-year-old said that no one should question Virat Kohli’s fitness. The former India opener also added that there is might be a chance that the upcoming ODI World Cup might be his last.

“I think Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Siraj, and maybe Jasprit Bumrah. That’s all I can think of (the 2027 World Cup). Never say never with Virat Kohli, especially given his fitness standards. However, it may be a bit too far and this may be his last ODI World Cup,” Aakash Chopra said.

In the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, India will start their campaign against Australia on October 8th at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The Men in Blues will lock horns against their arch-rivals, Pakistan on October 14th at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
