Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi issued a warning to the Indian batters ahead of the India vs Pakistan game in the Super Four stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. He said that his spell in the last game against India wasn’t impressive for him and his best is yet to come.

India and Pakistan are all set to face each other again in the Asia Cup 2023. The arch-rivals will play against each other on 10th September in Colombo. Going to the game all the spotlight will be on how Indian batters will tackle Shaheen Afridi.

Shaheen Afridi has troubled Indian batters a lot of late. His left-arm pace bowling is something that has been a cause of concern for the Men in Blue. In the last game between India and Pakistan on 2nd September in Pallekele, the pacer wreaked havoc across the batting lineup.

Shaheen Afridi rattled the Indian top order and left India tumbling at 66/4. The left-arm pacer returned with the figures of 4/25 and his wickets included Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and Hardik Pandya.

Going into the Super Four game, Indian batters will be having Shaheen Afridi in the back of their mind. The Pakistan pacer would be looking to replicate the same. But according to him, his best is yet to come.

Shaheen Afridi while speaking to AFP, said that it’s just the start for him and there will be many many performances coming from him. He highlighted the importance of the game against India and explained:

“Every match against India is special and people watch this a lot. I used to wait for this match as a fan before I played under-16 cricket. I can’t say this has been my best spell (4/25 in Pallekele) so far. This is just the start and there will be many more, so the best is yet to come.”

IND vs PAK: The communication is good between us – Shaheen Afridi on his fellow bowling options

Shaheen Afridi further talked about his bowling partners in Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf. He said that their biggest success is their communication and they know their roles well. He added:

“If you play all the three formats at such a young age for Pakistan and handle the new ball, people expect you to perform like that. We know our roles with the new and old ball. Haris is quicker than us and impacts with his pace. Naseem and I try to get early breakthroughs. The communication is good between us and that’s our success.”

The pace trio of Shaheen Afridi (7), Haris Rauf (9), and Naseem Shah (7) share a total of 23 wickets between them in the three games. They all are on the list of leading wicket-takers in the tournament, which speaks volumes about how dominating they have been.
