Curtly Ambrose added that one leader should always have to be cool and calm, and that is why Rohit Sharma proves to be a good leader.
“I do like his style of captaincy. I like his calm demeanor. Even if the team isn’t doing well, he doesn’t show it. He is always very cool and calm, which is very good for a leader. Once he’s got the support of the rest of the team, they are going to be okay,” Curtly Ambrose said on Rohit Sharma.
I believe these guys are experienced enough: Curtly Ambrose on Rohit Sharma’s India
Curtly Ambrose said that Rohit Sharma-led India will have added pressure on them since they will be playing at their home. However, the 59-year-old still believes that the Men in Blue are experienced enough to handle it.
“There is added pressure of playing at home, but I believe these guys are experienced enough and are good enough to cope with the pressure. I believe they are going to do well,” the 59-year-old added.
Curtly Ambrose said that India will get an advantage for playing at home conditions since no team knows the pitch better than the host nation. The Caribbean added that Rohit Sharma’s side have to play well in the tournament to get a hold of the prestigious trophy.
“The World Cup is being played in India. No other cricket nation knows the condition better in India better than India. So, that is a start. However, they still have to play and play well because all other cricketing nations have toured India before. They know the conditions as well, so home advantage is not something you can take for granted because if you don’t play well you can lose,” Ambrose said.
India will take on Pakistan in the ODI World Cup on October 14th at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Before that, they will face each other on September 2nd in the Asia Cup 2023 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka.
