IND Vs PAK: Deep Dasgupta Heaps Praise On Babar Azam After His 151-Run Knock Against Nepal, Says 'Poetry In Motion'

Former India player, Deep Dasgupta applauded Babar Azam after his 151-run knock against Nepal in the Asia Cup 2023 on Wednesday (August 30th) at Multan International Stadium. Deep Dasgupta said that Babar Azam’s is poetry in motion and his shots are easy to watch.
After his 151-run knock from 131 balls, Babar Azam wrote his name on the history books for becoming the first skipper to play a 150+ run inning.
Apart from the 28-year-old skipper, Iftikhar Ahmed also played a 109-run knock from 71 balls with a strike rate of 153.52 which helped Pakistan to give a target of 343 runs after batting in the first inning.
In the second inning, Shadab Khan led the Pakistan bowling attack and picked four wickets in his 6.4 over spell in which he gave away 27 runs.
Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf picked two wickets respectively in their five-over spell. On the other hand, Naseem Shah and Mohammad Nawaz took one wicket each.
While speaking to Star Sports, Deep Dasgupta said that even though the opposition was Nepal one has to look at how well they bowled in the first inning and stated the Nepali bowling attack controlled the game till the 40th over.
Dasgupta praised Babar Azam and said that the skipper worked hard to reach at that position and even the conditions were not on their side.
“Listen, he is poetry in motion. He is so easy on the eyes. Even though on the scorecard, it was Nepal as the opposition, you have to keep in mind how well they bowled. They were in the game until the 40th over. He really had to work hard, the conditions were not easy, it was hot, it was humid,” Deep Dasgupta said.
The hunger he has to go out there: Deep Dasgupta on Babar Azam
The former India player further said that Nepal had a disciplined bowling lineup and Babar Azam’s 151 runs did not come easy to him even though the opposition was Nepal.
Deep Dasgupta further said that the 28-year-old has got the hunger in him to score more runs no matter what the condition is.
“The bowling was very disciplined. It didn’t come easy to him. If you look back and look at the scorecard, you might say ‘Oh, it came against Nepal’. But it was a difficult hundred. That tells you how he was glued in, the hunger he has to go out there, and irrespective of oppositions and conditions, he wants to score,” he added.
Pakistan will take on India in their upcoming match of the tournament on Saturday (September 2nd) at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka.
