Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh stated that veteran batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be under pressure against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023. Harbhajan Singh said that the batting duo will be eager to showcase their skills during the high-pressure opener.
The Rohit Sharma-led team will take on the Babar Azam-led team in the third match of the Asia Cup at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Saturday, September 2. The two neighboring teams last met in an ODI match during the 2019 World Cup in England.

In an interview with India Today, Harbhajan Singh highlighted that India versus Pakistan is always a special game where players can become overnight sensations.
“I believe India must be ready for this game. They’ve been practicing hard. On the last tour of West Indies, many players like Rohit and Virat were not part of the series.
But India versus Pakistan is always a special game. It’s a high-pressure game. Kohli, Rohit and the other guys will be very keen to showcase their talent,” said Harbhajan.
Always Pressure On Senior Players – Harbhajan Singh
Harbhajan Singh expressed confidence in Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s ability to rise to the occasion, as they have done in the past against Pakistan.
“There’s always pressure on senior players. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma need to lead from the front. There will be huge pressure on Kohli and Rohit to perform because they are the most senior players. But they’ve always come good against Pakistan and hopefully, they will come good tomorrow as well,” Harbhajan added.
Rohit and Virat have a strong ODI record against Pakistan. Rohit has scored 720 runs in 16 innings at an average of 51.43, with two centuries and six fifties. Virat scored 536 runs in 13 innings at an average of 48.73, with two centuries and two fifties.

The veteran offspinner stated that young players like Shubman Gill, who will be playing their first match against Pakistan, are eager to perform in this high-pressure encounter.
“Someone like Shubman Gill will be playing his first match against Pakistan, in a high-voltage match. He will be keen to perform. I believe India is ready for this competition,” he concluded.
