Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan expressed his scepticism about Mohammad Rizwan’s leg cramps during the match against Sri Lanka in the ICC World Cup 2023. Mohammad Rizwan stayed at the crease till the end, despite suffering from cramps in the chase.

Mohammad Rizwan scored an unbeaten 131 runs off 121 balls against Sri Lanka at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Tuesday, October 11. The right-handed batter helped the team register a record-breaking victory with 10 balls to spare in the innings.

Mohammad Rizwan Looks Completely Fine – Irfan Pathan

Reflecting on Mohammed Rizwan‘s cramps, Irfan Pathan questioned how he could appear perfectly fine while running between the wickets if he was experiencing cramps during the match.

“Mohammad Rizwan looks completely fine when he’s running between the wickets. How’s that possible when you have cramps,” Pathan said.

Rizwan experienced back pain and leg cramps and collapsed after hitting a six during the 37th over. Simon Doull also pointed out this issue and humorously suggested that Rizwan could become an actor, implying that he might have exaggerated his on-field pain.

Pakistan Will Have To Bowl Better Against Stronger Teams – Irfan Pathan

Speaking on Star Sports, Irfan Pathan emphasized that Pakistan’s bowling needs improvement, especially against stronger teams in the World Cup 2023. He pointed out the below-par performances of Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

“Their bowling needs sharpness. Pakistan will have to bowl better against the stronger teams, the top five or six teams. Every team will not allow you to chase such a big score.”

“I have seen better Pakistan bowling units in World Cups. Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz are not in form. Shaheen Shah Afridi gave 66 runs in nine overs. It was a flat pitch for sure but he didn’t pick up wickets with the new ball.”

The Pakistan bowlers conceded 344 runs in their allocated 50 overs in Hyderabad. Hasan Ali was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan as he broke the backbone of the Sri Lankan batting line-up. He ended the 10-over quota with four wickets for 71 runs.
