Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar hailed Pakistani bowlers as top-class bowlers ahead of the much-anticipated clash against India in the Super four game of the Asia Cup 2023. He said that they are the most lethal attack in the world cricket.

The likes of Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah have taken the world by storm. The Pakistan pace trio is one of the most lethal bowling attacks in the world cricket as they have dismantled the best batting lineups as well.

In the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, they are one of the main reasons behind Pakistan being dominant in the tournament. In the recent game against India, they rattled the top order of the Indian batting lineup and made them look clueless against their fiery pace and swing. They removed big guns in Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill for just 66 runs.

However, not only against India, Pakistan pacers toiled with Nepal batters in the first game, bundling them under 105 runs. If this was no enough, they in the super four clash against Bangladesh were at their best as they bowled them for just 193 runs and won the game easily.

Sunil Gavaskar said that earlier they were at the No.2 spot after Australia but currently they have no competition and are on the top.  Speaking to India today, he explained:

“At one point of time it was Australia and Pakistan probably shared that number 1 and number 2 spot because Pakistan have always had top-class new-ball bowlers. But at this point of time, they have the most lethal new-ball attack in the game.”

Sunil Gavaskar further went on to say with the kind of pace attack Pakistan have, it isn’t easy for any batter to get aggressive against them. He added:

“They have a left-arm, right-arm combination. They can move the ball both ways at good pace. So, it’s not easy for any batter to get aggressive against them from the word go.”

The pace trio of Shaheen Afridi (7), Haris Rauf (9), and Naseem Shah (7) share a total of 23 wickets between them in the three games. They all are on the list of leading wicket-takers in the tournament, which speaks volumes about how dominating they have been.
