Pakistan’s veteran keeper-batter Kamran Akmal expressed his disappointment over the schedule of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. Kamran Akmal highlighted that the venues were not changed despite the forecast predicting rain for the remaining matches in Colombo.

Earlier, reports emerged that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) was considering shifting the Super Four and final match from Colombo to Hambantota due to heavy rains. However, the ACC officially confirmed that Colombo will host the remaining games as per the schedule.

The Losses Are Inevitable – Kamran Akmal

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Kamran Akmal stated that BCCI Secretary Jay Shah could face criticism for the poor scheduling. Akmal said that the Asia Cup could have been more successful if the participating teams had agreed to play in Pakistan.

“It seems as if all the scheduled matches in Sri Lanka will be interrupted due to rain. We knew what the forecast would be. If the venues aren’t changed, it will lead to losses worth millions of dollars. The losses are inevitable.”

“Some people’s egos are responsible for this situation. It will also break the hearts of fans who were eagerly waiting for India-Pakistan matches.”

“Fans will distance themselves if they don’t get what they want. Jay Shah will be criticised for it. If they had kept the differences aside and put cricket at the forefront by agreeing to play in Pakistan, the Asia Cup would have been a big success.”

Sri Lanka and Pakistan are co-hosting the Asia Cup 2023 through a hybrid model. Rain has disrupted several matches in Sri Lanka, including the highly anticipated India-Pakistan game, which has been disappointing for fans.

There Are Weaknesses In India’s Bowling – Kamran Akmal

Kamran Akmal criticized India’s performance against Nepal, suggesting that they were too relaxed against an associate nation. Akmal emphasized that this performance highlights weaknesses in India’s bowling department.

“Mohammed Siraj looked off-color. India should not have let Nepal score 230 runs. There were also a few dropped catches early on,” Akmal further stated.

“This happens when a top team is playing a lower-ranked team, as the bodies of the players tend to be a bit more relaxed. However, their relaxed attitude resulted in Nepal scoring 230.”

“If those catches had been taken, they would have again been bundled out for about 120 runs. Nepal’s score has given a message to other teams that there are weaknesses in India’s bowling.”

The Asia Cup group stage concluded with the Afghanistan vs. Sri Lanka match in Lahore on September 5. The first Super Four match, featuring Pakistan and Bangladesh, will be held at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on September 6.
